About Dr Kirsten Jackson

Dr Jackson has been passionate about horses and their care since childhood. She is a qualified vet and highly experienced in equine care.

Riding

Dr Jackson has competed in horse riding events in Western Australia for over 17 years, primarily in showjumping and eventing. She has also competed in dressage, hacking, novelties and endurance events. Kirsten was a member of Walliston Pony Club for 13 years and during this time represented her club, zone and Western Australia in competition. She also completed her ‘B Pony Club Certificate’ and received the Vetsearch award.

Education

After completing her veterinary studies at Murdoch University, Western Australia, with honours, Dr Jackson worked as an equine veterinarian at Oakford Equine Hospital. Oakford treats a wide variety of equine veterinary cases, allowing Dr Jackson to gain a broad knowledge of equine veterinary medicine and surgery.

Dr Jackson has considerable experience in equine dentistry and is passionate about the field. She has completed numerous courses in specialised horse dentistry. Combined with her equine veterinary knowledge and experience, Dr Jackson has the skills to ensure that your horse reaches its full potential, free from oral discomfort.

Whether this is top level competition, pleasure riding or simply allowing your horse to eat comfortably, you will see the difference a professional equine dental treatment can make.

Teaching and Mentoring

Dr Jackson has used her experience in equine dentistry and health to teach Murdoch University veterinary students second-year equine management, and in tutoring the fourth-year equine dentistry class. Additionally, she is the WA state representative for the Equine Veterinarians Australia (EVA) young members’ group.

Dr Jackson has also coached horse riding at Walliston Pony Club for many years.
